Saturday driving....

We went for a drive on Saturday up to Ojai. First we stopped at the Nordhoff Cemetary which is really old and small. There isn't any grass but there is a ton of dirt and plants. Emily and I were wondering around and came across this old wooden headstone. What caught my attention was the last name...Stapleton (my mom's maiden name) and I thought it was odd that there was a Stapleton there from the civil war. I think the dates said 1844 to 1918. I may have to go back and see if that is really what the dates were. It is still in pretty good condition for being there for so long and being made from wood. Next we drove up the 33 and came across this waterfall on the side of the road. We were able to walk to it since it was about 30 feet from the side of the road.

We saw lots of wild flowers. Most of them were yellow but I found this purple one.

We got out of the car to see these yellow flowers and as soon as I opened the door all we could smell was flowers.

It was super foggy and you couldn't see anything over the side of the mountain. I think we will have to go back up there again soon so I can take some more pictures.

Interesting to see that wooden gravemarker for a Thomas Stapleton. I don't think he'd be related to our family, though, as he was here much earlier than ours.
