New Years Eve!!!!

I can not believe that it is New Year's Ev already!!! I have so much to do today. I have to go to the party store and get all of the goodies for tonight and I still have to hit the grocery store so i can make Touchdown Taco Dip...this is a Pampered Chef recipe and it is our favorite at parties!!!!

I have some Christmas pictures that I will post sometime soon. We spent Christmas Eve at my Uncle John's house. We had good food and spent some terrific time together. Christmass morning we went to Jen and Matt's house and opened presents with the kids. That afternoon we went to my dad's house and had dinner with him and my sister Emily, who has moved back to finifh high school here from Utah. Her mother is currently attending BYU and will be back in April or May.

So I will post a bucn of pictures is the new year, I still need to put up the rest of my Disneyland ones too. Happy New Year!!

Our Anniversary

Jeremy and I and our good friend Denise went to Disneyland this year for our anniversary. Denise is leaving to go back to Iraq so we wanted to spend time with her. This first slide show is of pictures from the Haunted Mansion which is transformed into The Nightmare Before Christmas eash year around Halloween time and lasts until January. It is a must see attraction. We went on tons of rides and I have lots of pictures which I will add more slide shows in the next few days. We enjoyed our visit to Disneyland a lot and have realized we are much older now than the days of being a kid and being able to last all day without getting tired. This time we got tired after a few hours and ecided to hit Downtown Disney to eat dinner. So we hiked out of Disneyland and what felt like 10 miles into Downtown Disney and had dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. We had a drink or 2 and enjoyed some good food. After eating we saw that the Monorail stops right next door and come to find out you can take it from Disneyland to Downtown Disney and back again. We thought great now we find out!! We took the Monorail back into Disneyland and had a great time the rest of the day. I will post more pictures later. Must go to bed so i can get up and finish Christmas shopping!!!

5 Years

Tomorrow Friday December 7th is our 5 year anniversary. I still can not believe that it has bee 5 years already. Jeremy and I are off to Disneyland tomorrow. Of course we would happen to be going the day it is supposed to rain. The last weather report I saw this morning it will be raining in the morning and then light showers throughout the day and it should be done around 5 or so. Actually I don't mind going in the rain I am hoping that the park is pretty much empty so we can walk on all of the rides. Disneyland at Christmas time is my favorite time to go!!!

To Sell Avon or not to selll Avon

I am trying to decide if I should start selling Avon. I need to make some extra money, but I am not sure if Avon is the way to go. I already sell Pampered Chef, but I have to turn in $200 in sales this month or I become inactive. This month is super busy for me I don't have time to find people to book a show. I tried to get a catalog show going, but I have had no takers so far. At least with Avon you don't have to do shows, you can pass out catalogs and hope for orders. Anybody have any suggestions???

Goodbye Mr. Whipple

I was so sad to learn that Mr. Whipple passed away this week. Actually I had no idea that he was still alive. I can still remember his commercials!! It was sad when they went off the air. I wonder if there is a DVD with those commercials on it...I think I will have to check into that. When I buy toliet paper I normally get the pink Quilted Northern since they donate money to breast cancer, but I think I will have to go buy some Charmin for Mr. Whipple.
I will always remember his most famous line:
Don't squeeze the Charmin!!!
Rest in Peace Mr. Whipple.

Lowes Update

I got an email back from Lowes and here is what they said:

NOTICE:All information in and attached to the e-mail(s) below may be proprietary, confidential, privileged and otherwise protected from improper or erroneous disclosure. If you are not the sender's intended recipient, you are not authorized to intercept, read, print, retain, copy, forward, or disseminate this message. If you have erroneously received this communication, please notify the sender immediately by phone (704-758-1000) or by e-mail and destroy all copies of this message (electronic, paper, or otherwise). Thank you.
Thank you for contacting Lowe’s to call to our attention the error in our holiday catalog.
You may already be aware that Lowe’s has apologized for the advertising error. We understand the confusion created when we headlined the page of Christmas trees “family trees”. The error was not caught before the publication was distributed and we are disappointed in the breakdown in our own creative process.
Lowe’s is committed to selling Christmas trees, as we have done for more than 60 years. And, we refer to the trees as Christmas trees in all television and magazine ads and in Lowe’s advertising flyers.
We will redouble our efforts to proof our catalogs in the future to prevent this issue from recurring.
We appreciate your understanding.

Well hopefully this is true. It just ticked me off to see that Christmas Tress were going to be called Family Trees.

Lowes

I am offically boycotting Lowes. We found out at work today that Lowes is no longer selling Christmas Tress, they are now called Family Tress. I had to ask myself what the hell is a family tree???? And how do you decorate that without using Christmas Ornaments? Several of us found a way on Lowes.com to email and complain. Enough of this we can't say Christmas crap....if we who celebrate Christmas can't say it then I think that people who celebrate Hanuka should not be able to say that either. Whatever happened to honoring holidays? When I was a kid we always had a big celebration for Christmas and it was fine then. Now it is a family tree, not a christmas tree, next Christmas will be called family day, how dumb is that?

Men in Skirts

On October 1th I went to the Highland games at Seaside Park with Gretchen and her mother -in-law Marsha. We ate some good food, shopped alot, listened to some great music and looked at alot of men in skirts.

The Wicked Tinkers are a great Scottish band and they put on a great show. I can't wait to gp back and see them next year.

The great thing about the Highland games is I always run into my family. This year I found 2 of my aunts and an uncle, I missed my Grandma though because she went the day before. I think next year I will go both days.

Watch for the dates and plan to attend next year there iss lots for eveyone to see.

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend I got to go to the pumpkin patch with Travis and Theresa. Travis tried to get us lost in the corn maze, but we were able to get out without waiting for the corn to die off. We went on the hay ride, which did not hav any hay, but was fun anyway. It took us through the farm and we saw lots of sunflowers. Travis and Theresa rode on the kiddie train, Theresa loved it but Travis did not appear to have much fun (check out the pictures below to see what I mean). Oh and we bought pumpkins, what else do you do when you go to the pumpkin patch. Theresa even picked out one for me, of course it was much smaller than theirs. We had a great time.

Theresa'a new word

So Friday night Jen picked me up to go shopping and have some dinner. I got in the car and Theresa says "Auntie". I thought did she really just say that?? I have been waiting for this for so long, especially once she started calling Jeremy "Dude". For the rest of the night it was all abount Momma and Auntie. We even called Auntie Mychele so she could hear it too. I have to say it is so exciting when kids learn how to talk and then when they say Auntie for the first time it is even better!!!!

Knott's Halloween Haunt

Last weekend I went to Knott's Halloween Haunt with Gretchen and we meet our friends Paul and Erica there. We had a great time!! I love Halloween and all of the ghouls and gobblins that go with it. The second picture I have posted here is Gretchen and the creepy that seemed to have a crush on her. I have to apologize for the quality of the picture, there was a fog machine next to het. Anyway this creepy just went over and sat down next to her and so she asked him dirctions to the Beowoulf maze. After we went through the maze she was taking a picture of something and he walked up and stood behind her. I tried to get a picture of that but he did not want his picture taken. The third picture is red water, well water that had a red light on it. We were in line waiting for the log ride and I and wanted a pictue of red water. The last picture is a bag pipe player for the Beowoulf maze.

So we had a great time and went through most of the scary mazes. If you are looking for a Halloween treat i would go to Knott's Halloween haunt, but they do recommend not taking children under 13 as it can be quite scary. The creepy's will run up behind you and scare you.

I Hate WalMart

Does anybody really enjoy going to WalMart??? I hat going there. By the way the guy in this picture is my step dad and he is wearing a shirt he got for Christmas from my aunt (it says Mall Wart Your source for cheap plastic crap). My mom worked for WalMart in Bakersfield for the past few years and she finally quit!!!!! (yes she did quit a few months ago, but she still quit). She is now working at home selling her goodies at http://geelizzie.etsy.com . Why I am bringing this up?? Well Christmas is coming and it's time to buy fun gifts. Actually I was going through pictures and found this one and could not resist posting it. And I really do hate WalMart, they may have cheap prices, but the Oxnard WalMart is terrible and I always seem to get ran over by unruly kids with shopping carts. I would much rather shop at TARGET!!!!! Also I was just wondering does anybody actually read my blog??

3 nephews and a niece

I an lucky to have 3 nephews and 1 niece. They are tons of fun and the best part is when I am done with them I can send them back to their parents!!! But I must remember that whatever I do with them now (like fill them full of sugar or buy annoying toys) I will get it even worse when we have kids. But for now I get to be the auntie who plays silly games and buys great presents. Travis is my favorite 5 year old nephew, Evan and Brett are my favorite twin nephews and Theresa is my favorite niece, someday they will catch on to what I am saying when i say that and what will I do then??
Travis used to call Jeremy, Bad bad when he was little and Theresa calls him Dude, I have to wonder what the twins will call him. All I ever get is Auntie from Travis. Theresa hs not learned how to say auntie yet, but soon it will happen.

A Really Bad Week

This week has been terrible. It all startd on Sunday when I received a call from my dad letting me know that my grandma was in the hospital in San Deigo and she was unresponsive. I thought ok, what do I do. I kept myself busy on Sunday and did not worry about it. On Monday I got an email from my aunt. At that point it had been determined that grandma probably had congestive heart failure and was not doing well. Tuesday came along and I did not get an update that morning. I went to work and had an emotional day. That night I got my update that the hospice social worker thought grandma might not make it until Friday. I did not know what to do. I stayed up most of Tuesday night trying to decide if I should go to San Deigo or not. I got to work and sometime in between 8:20 and 8:30 Wednesday morning I decided I needed to go. I finished what work I needed to do and left about 10. I got home and Jeremy got ready to leave when my dad called to tell me that grandma had passed away at 8:20 that morning. I told him that I was just leaving to go see her so should could not be gone already. Jeremy and I got in the car to go down and see her body, but on the way my aunt let us know that we would not be able to see her until friday. So I thougth ok what do we do now. We truned around and went to the Santa Paula Cemetery which is where we are going to bury her ashes. We got the rice qoute we thought we needed only the other problem is that grandma wanted to be buried with her dad. Jeremy and I went back today and got the real price for the buriel...I hate cemeteries!!! On Friday we went fown and saw my grandma's body. I thought I would lose it and cry the whole time but I surprised myself I did not cry. I checked her out and kind of had to laugh...she was in a cardboard box. Apparently when you are going to be cremated they transfer you in a body bag and a cardboard box. Grandma looked good she was not pastey white like they are on tv. She was more yellow. Her eyes were donated to help someone else see, however when we saw her, the lids were glused shut and you could not tell that the eyes were gone. I touched her a few times and lifted more of the lid off of the box so I could look at her whole body. While we were standing in the room, the door opened really slowly and of course no one walked in. It got colder at that time too. My aunt said it was just the air conditioning and that the door was not all the way closed when we walked in. Jeremy and i laughed about it today and decided it was grandma telling us to leave already. Jeremy and i hd gone down to see her in January and about an hour after we got there she told us to leave becasuse Jeremy looked tired and we should go home. So now we are planning a memorial service which will be in a few months and in the meantime I am going to remember grandma and all of the fun stuff we used to do. Maybe I will remember some good stories to tell.

It's Friday!!!!!

Friday's are great days. It means no work for 2 days!!! We got to leave early today (with pay until 5!!) the bosses are on their way to a family reunion. So I am going to try and clean my house and do some laundry. I know what a fun way to spend a day off. Tomorrow i am taking my sister and brother (15 and 13) to Knotts Berry Farm for a sibling day. Not sure what I got myself into as they tend to fight alot. I told them both that if they fight, one gets left in lost and found and the other gets left on a ride and I am coming home. I wish that Joseph could come down and go and then the 4 of us could spend some time together. Oh well at least we should have fun.

Grocery Shopping

So Jeremy and I need to go shopping tonight. I hate going to the grocery store. We always spend lots of money but nver come home with any food. Why is that??? Becasue someone...I wont mention HIS name...always picks out junk food. And we always go when we are hungry which means we buy things that we want to eat right then. Well tonight we are going to go and buy some real food (and probably some junk food also). Then we will come home and cook dinner instead of running out to Jersey Mike's which sounds really good right now.

More summer vacation.....

Camping can be fun. This year when we went to Lake Casitas we thought we would have tons of fun. It ended up being way to hot and we did not get our good capmsite that we had last year. This year we did have a view of the lake, which was cool. The only problem was we did not have much shade. Oh and we were by the model airstrip. Evey morning we were woken up by the sound of model airplanes flying around. We did watch them for a while and then my dad asked me if I remembered when he used to do that. I laughed because all of a sudden I did remember it only back then the only place to fly them was by the cemetery and of course there was the one time when one crashed and landed in the cemetery. he thought it may have been more than once but I do remember it that one time.

Every other time we have been to the lake we used to have people ride in the back of the truck. The speed limit around there is 15 mph. This time there was tons of people riding in the back of trucks and boats that were being pulled by trucks. Well wouldnt you know it, we got pulled over. The ranger (Ranger Dick as we called him) told us that he stopped us because we had people in the back of the truck. So of course we said that we used to do it all the time and had never been told anything before. Ranger Dick then tells us that you can't do that anymore because the same laws that are applied outside of the lake now apply inside of the lake, but don't worry he will only give us a ticket for a small amount. I am thinking in the back of my mind, why not just give us a warning first moron. So we get a ticket for $50 and are told that if we pay it directly to Lake Casitas within the next 30 days they will not send it to the DMV. Let's see here, we pay the lake directly...another way for them to make money!!! Time to find a new place to go camping at!!! We had a great time anyway, but the ticket and the bee sting of one of our fellow campers almost ruined the whole trip. I will continue next time with more of our summer fun!!! Maybe I will figure out how to put pictures on here too. HEHEHEHE

Oh wow....So since I am tired of working today I decided to write my first blog, even though right now I have nothing really interesting to write about. Well my summer has been boring except for a few trips and visits. Let's see first Jeremy's brother Jon and his wfie, Mychele and the twins (Brett and Evan) were here for a visit in July. We took all 4 kids (Travis and Theresa also) and went to the Santa Barbara Zoo. We had tons of fun and I even got Travis to feed the giraffe with me. (I will post a picture later) Then 2 weeks later we went camping with my dad and my little sister and brother, poor Joseph did not get to come. What a weekend that was. Here's a tip, if you are allergic to bees (not any one of us....just a friend that came with us was - Sorry Kelly had to tell the truth) make sure that you bring your bee sting kit with you so you dont have to go to the hospital in an ambulance to get a shot. The lazy river at the Lake Castias water park is fun. But make sure you go at 5:00 pm when it is only $5.00 a person until 7:00 pm when they close. I think 2 hours of that is enough, you know screaming children and annoying adults who think that they own the whole place. We did have a great time there and for the most part it was relaxing. So that is enough storytelling for now. I need to finish some stuff before I go home!!!!
